Description

Photo Restoration is taking old photographs and giving new life to them. Removing blackened age spots, strains, folds, tears, and doing overall color corrections. Eliminating any damage or wear-and-tear that has been done over the years. Once a photograph has been restored to look new again, it can take its rightful place on the fireplace mantle or family photo albums.

Photo Editing is improving the color balance of the photograph. Correcting the lighting and contrast of the photos and other editing methods such as removing red-eye, that bring out the best quality of the photograph. Editing also consists of cropping, rotating, alignments; file compressions and saving in different file formats.

Photo Artwork is taking photographs and making them even more memorable by making artwork out of them. Different artistic effects could include water-painting, oil painting, pencil sketches, charcoal sketches, colored pencil, etched in wood or stone look and even just far-out wild effects. Having a painting of yourself, or a pet or even a favorite vacation photo to hang on the wall isn’t something just the elite should have the pleasure of. So should everyone! And they can through computerized digital artwork. Turning a photograph into an art image is a process of using different filters and effect techniques that alter the pixels in raster images.  All photographs are raster images that consist of thousands of individual colored pixels, that when put altogether make your photographs. With graphic editing software a person is able to make such changes, in the colors and appearances of these pixels. The possibilities of what can be done with pixels are endless!  Of course it helps to have an artistic eye for what looks good and what doesn’t. The resolution of a photograph also will determine what can be done with it. You cannot turn a 4x5 photograph into a 20x30 poster,  but there may be ways or working around that such as taking a digital photo of the photograph. J

Digital Hand Paintings are done with Painter IX. It is a very realistic painting process, except for your medium is digital rather then canvas or paper. I use a Wacom table and pen and paint the artwork stroke for stroke.

Photo Manipulation consists of removing unwanted items in the pictures or completely changing a background in a picture. This kind of work takes a lot more time and patience then regular photo editing. In order to eliminate things lurking in background, glares on glasses, blemishes, scratches, your ex-mate from a photograph, you need to make sure that what you remove is replaced by something that looks like it belongs there in the first place.  For instance, to remove glares from glasses, you have to literally repaint the eyes behind the glasses, until the entire glared look is gone. This can be tedious work making sure you get the exact color, blending, shading and sizing correct.  This type of work can take several hours to days to finish but the time spent and final results are always rewarding.
